Emerald Bay is listed by over 1.5 million visitors annually. World famous Vikingsholm Castle, which sits majestically overlooking Lake Tahoe's only island, is a National Historic Landmark worthy of our support. The Sierra State Park Foundation embarked on the Vikingshsolm Forever Endowment Campaign in 2019 in honor of Vikingsholm 90th birthday. As we reach for our $1,000,000 goal (to yield $40,000 annually), the need to raise funds for the on-going maintenance and visitor needs of the Castle is more critical than ever.
Current repairs which we are raising funds include:
Restoration of 2o historic window frames that have rotted and are causing leaking into the building. ($12,000)
Restoration of the garage door that is currently down to the raw wood ($5,000)
Creation and installation of a new exhibit in the Visitor Center focusing on the Emerald Bay Underwater Trail and early boating transportation. ($15,000)
